I did the 5 Counties Ride on Sunday [ charity event for Firefighters Charity ] it was supposed to be 107 miles but I ended up doing 125 due to baffling maps 
However I would recommend the ride if they do it again next year as it took in some lanes around the Brum area I have never been on before and didn't know existed. The check points were at fire stations in 5 different counties and some good banter can always be found in these places.. I grew up living with this as my dad was a fireman and nothing seems to have changed.
The section through B'ham was confusing and a bit grim but was only about 15 miles of town, made worse by the lack of street name signs....... possibly stolen due to the price of metal at the moment, very unhelpful.

Worst bit........getting lost somewhere south of Telford and realising I might be riding in the dark with only a flashing led on the front
