Touch up paint

Does anyone recommend using this for covering the odd scratch or cable rub marks on their bikes?
If so can you tell me what type is best.

I've not touched up a bike, but I have used the touch up stuff from Halfrauds on my car. You never get a perfect match, but they have some that are like felt tips that you can get a reasonably quick job done with.

if you can find the right shade, humbrol enamel paints are quite good for touch-ups, better than car paint sticks ime.

+1 Humbrol paints. They have thousands of shades so it's tricky over the internet but if you can get to a modelling/craft/hobby shop, you're laughing. Finish with a clear lacquer top coat.

you can mixt the humbrol airfix paints to get a closer match; if you have an air brush, then you can get a very good finish.

+1 Humbrol enamels - and there is a lot to be said for sticking to black for bikes - as I do - then it is just a question of matching degree of glossiness or mattness.

Thanks for all the advice,will have a trip to the model shop and see what I can find.
My bike used to be white,it's now so covered in black marks it might be quicker to paint the rest of it black

Halfords car touch up is fine ! I use it on my 'collection'. The paints come with a very fine brush, although model enamel would be much cheaper at about £3 a pot, and you could 'mix' it easier to come up with a more ideal match.

As for cable rub, just polish/clean the area, and stick on 2-3cm of electrical tape (colour matched) as this will 1. Cover existing rub and 2. Stop it getting worse.

Lasts ages before it wears through and looks better than tape.

Hey, the nail enamel suggestion is a good one! The paint is enamel, so it holds up well, and there is a good selection of colours. Remember, though, that the lighting is different inside the store. So, simply paint your nails in the different shades at the cosmetic counter, and then go outside to match it to your bike! If you need a second opinion, there are always plenty of passersby to ask! You may even meet a new friend! wink, wink, nudge, nudge!

i use clear nail varnish on chips/scratches once i've noticed them.
