The BBC don't let you see things like that from abroad. It might upset the natives.

Toughest place to be a bus driver is Guatemala surely as they get shot by criminal gangs if they don't pay up the protection money. But then they'd already been there with the paramedic.

It was a strange mixture of desperate sadness and happiness. It's difficult to see that bloke put in all those hours of work, simply to stay above the poverty line. Contrasting to the UK, where we're gifted an education and ensured a comfortable way of life.

Interesting series, the next one shall be an eye opener.

It will. It is about a midwife in Africa somewhere (I forget where).
But it showed a preview where they were 4 sharing each bed.
Not sure I can stand to watch it.

It's in Liberia i think. Last night's edition made for uncomfortable viewing at times but the sheer integrity of those poor folk in Manila gave a warm glow. They gave when they have so little.

Makes you appreciate just how lucky we all are

Indeed. We found out my wife has MS at the end of last week. I saw the second half of this and it helps to put it into perspective. Free medical care, our own house etc. Beats a shanty town in Manila and working such long days.

Yes that is often the way. There is nothing so dignified than someone who has so little but is prepared to share it. Truly heartwarming and gives you faith in human nature.
When I used to deliver papers as a boy, the size of the Christmas tips seemed to be inversely proportional to the size of the house / car.
I seemed that the poeple with the money had more of it as they never gave any of it away.

Huh, they don't have to face our local pensioners when the bus is ten minutes late.

Now that is dangerous!

My mum collects for Christian aid around our local area, and always says the people in the smaller houses/ council houses tend to fill up their envelopes, whilst many of the richer residents don't bother.
