Touring in the Himalayas

Hi - just curious to read if anyone has cycled in the Himalayas and particularly North India?

Nearly. My frame cracked in Nahan, a couple of days south of Shimla. And I've been to Rishikesh, Dehra Dun, trailing along the Shiwaliks.

I'll get back there one day!

Oh, I also rode a bit of the Annapurna trail in Nepal before deciding it was easier to walk.

Hi Skuhravy - yep was in the Himalayas last year with 3 mates and going back next year with 2 of these and another mate. We flew into Delhi and then got the train to Chandrighah then got on our bikes and toured through Shimla and finished in Leh after passing a few of the passes. We rode steel mountain bike frames and forks so if need be these could be more easily welded and we more or less used all the same components to reduce the need for spares. Took daily Diamox to help with the altitude.

Great expereince and really looking forward to going back next year to ride some different passes. I'm sure you will be looking forward to getting back too.
