Hi!

I am doing the etaape this year and I'd like to get a big climb in before now and then (mid july). I'm thinking about doing the Tourmaletat the end of March.

Do you know if it is doable then? Or is it still too snowey?

Cheers,
Tom

It will be thick snow. A metre or two.... There are ski resorts either side (La Mongie to the east, Bareges to the west) and they use the road as ski pistes.

Just thought you would like this http://www.bretonbikes.com/tormalet.htm

I did it some years ago. Stripped my bike down at Bareges and got up in 45mins but took 57mins to get down because it was very scary. I couldn't go fast because of all the bends and cramp from holding the brakes. Good luck.

I've done it in April and it was fine. I've done it in July and it was so cold I thought I would die.
