Please - if you are on a fixed gear bike and get to the front of the lights on the Old Kent Road and can't quite trackstand so you edge forward little by little as the other lanes of traffic take their turns and the other commuting cyclists pile up behind you but in front of the white vans and buses but can't get past you as you are weaving from one side to the other in an attempt to stay in the clips and pull away sharpish when all the lights go green...

...at least choose some lower gears in future so you can pull away at speed rather than puffing and straining so slowly that everyone else behind then gets squished between your rear wheel and London Transport's finest.

Thank you.

(I'll be less grumpy next week when I'm not wet as well as squished)

Damn right!
I love riding fixed and have done on and off since riding track at school.
I'm On gears now though as it's just that bit too hilly where I am in London.
But the amount of "fashion" fixies out there at the moment is amazing!
Not wanting to generalise (but I will). On my commute if they are not busy not pulling off track stands they are busy jumping the reds!

Its the dicks on fashion fixeds with a huge gear on that cant actualy ride that gear that are stupid.
I can happily trackstand without moving, and power off(i do power off less hard since i one bent a chainring after powering off from a trackstand:wacko:)

Let's not just pick on the fixies! It really pisses me off when someone insists on getting in front of you in the queue for the lights. Then, you look at their back wheel and notice they're in top gear on the cassette......

The result? Lights go green, numpty has to huff and puff away and you can't get past them because they're wobbling all over and the traffic's whizzing by your elbow ;).
