I'm not particularly shocked by him but I thought the sketch stuff was just unfunny. I really rate him as a standup and I thin k he's much better live than on telly.

The sketch stuff is just weird, certainly not funny at all imo.
After all the complaints and threats of legal action a channel 4 spokesman said 'you know what to expect with Frankie'

The stand up bit is no different to the live show - it seemed to be a rehearsal for the tour

The sketches are a bit hit and miss (IMO) - something for everyone I guess

He's just going for shock value - I found some of it quite funny, but the sketches didn't really work for me. The stand up's pretty good though. I think I laughed at the barefaced nature of it all!

I started to watch the first one and immediately understood what my BiL had told me following going to Frankies live show, the stand up is just a series of attempts to shock. But then it went into the Knightrider sketch and I had to give up, it dragged on and was painfully unfunny and laboured.

Frankie should be ashamed I managed to watch more of Little Britain than I did his show and they really aren't funny.

He can be very funny, but he seems now to be trying a bit too hard to shock.
I'm no prude, but the stuff about Jordan's kid was OTT, and unpleasant, also.

>but he seems now to be trying a bit too hard to shock.

That rather depends on your point of reference - is that wrt to his older live act, or wrt to what you've previoulsy seen on tv ?
A mate went to see him (admittedly recently) and said he was way more extreme that what you see on Mock The Week, so I guess his series just reflects that. I'm not sure that's anything new with comedians, a lot tend to be a bit less edgy/cleaner on tv... I remember going to see Bernard Manning 30-something years ago - a trip organised by someone where my mother worked when he was often on the 'box- and he was a lot dirtier (for the time). But probably not much different to a lot of comedy clubs I've been to over the last decade (or two) I suspect.

Went to a comedy club a few weeks ago - one guy was persuing a camp line of humour , myself and my GF found him very funny, but a lot of rest of the audience (35-55 mebbe - we're about 47) didn't seem to get him. A later act - who was funny enough, but just a but 'safer' - and they were rolling about. Made me wonder if a lot of them had never been to what usually constitutes a comedy club...

Must admit I rather like Frankie Boyle - yeah, it can be a bit OTT but that in itself can sometimes be entertaining...mebbe that's why he's probably my preferred member of MTW, you can rely on him coming out with something just that little bit more extreme than anyone else, whilst still very funny

The show's sketches *are* a rather patchy...

Which we won't but, as a long time admirer of his humour I felt justified in expressing my disappointment at him producing something that bad.

Agreed, I often find self censorship is the best form. We all have different tastes. My particular dislikes are soaps and X factor!

By the way my post was not directed at you in particular
