I have a 8x10' shed that I need to move. The shed unscrews into its component panels but these are still quite large - too large for me to hire a normal transit van and put them in the back.

Can anyone advise how best to do this. I have a normal driving licence so can't hire a truck!

Cheers

Would it not go in a Luton or on a flat bed? Had a plumber in last week and even at that size his high top enclosed van would have been a close fit.

Depends o what your licence entitlements are too. Being an old git I've got all sorts on mine that my recently qualified son hasn't.

The Luton looks like a good bet - I wonder how much that would cost to hire for a weekend

We have ads in our local paper for "man and a van" that will do jobs like this. You could just phone them up with the sizes and see if they want/can do the job. Probably cheaper than a days hire and you get the manpower to help you move it.

Ask Princess Anne, she's got a horse box and would probably welcome a couple of quid.

It's how I got a dismantled shed transported once. Horse owners are always keen on a bit of beer money.
I don't know any. also I have the problem that it needs to travel a long way - 5 hours
the shed is worth about £850 new (it's 6 years old now) so I'd pay a fair amount of money rather than buy a new one (which I can't afford now anyway) - it's basically moving it from our old house to the new one

They were the same price as a large Sprinter/ transit van, last time I looked, so shouldn't cost you any extra.

Are you sure it won't go in a hightop Transit? Remember the big panels could be put in diagonally and braced with tie-downs. Might be worth a trip to your local rental place with a tape measure?

Or, left field idea, ask your local shed company if they'd quote for it, maybe one of their drivers wants some extra cash on a Sunday?
