Treated the old girl to new tyres

I am still a novice commuter, only into 4th week, but I do 134 miles a week, with only one day off, last Friday got drenched going home, and the bike frame was full of water, so took it all apart, and realised how worn the tyres were.

So treated myself to 2 new ones and new tubes. Looks a lot better !

I was wondering how many miles I would get to a rear tyre?

I've just changed front and rear in prep for he Dunwich Dynamo, he rear was all of two months old, two hard stops from high speed have ruined it, one has flatten off over three inchs of the tyre andd stripped off all the rubber, I could feel it thumping on the way home today

people seem to get thousands of miles routinely, they wear all right usually, it's cuts that usually make me change them eventually

rear tyres always seem to wear before the fronts, i guess swapping them over would be an idea.

i bought a set of tyres for my road bike and after only a few months a small piece of glass left a nasty cut in the rear one, shame really as there was very little signs of wear on it

kinda on this subject... not sure if i read once that you should carefully clean off any excess rubber left from the moulding process before you use a tyre, you know, the little seam that runs around the middle. did i read this or have i dreamt it

I normally buy a new tyre in the autumn, put it on the front and put the old front on the back.
