Its for the Mrs she is coming from a Triban T3 Question is what are people's opnions of trek does anybody have one here?. I think as it will be her last road bike for a while i want to make sure she is getting good value/frame/components.

It's in black  But also white

Assume she is 5'9+ given Evans have nothing smaller than a 54cm?

Now at the risk of being shouted down, have you looked at WSD bikes - the advantages being - geometry usually better suited to women (higher headtube), bars usually narrower, cranks shorter, WSD saddle

http://www.evanscycles.com/categori...m=851;price_to=1026;on_sale=;sort=popularity;

As a 5'10 woman, I can't use a Shimano 105 groupset as the hoods are too fat and the wrong shape for me to brake safely! Just something to consider as a groupset change costs...or you can fit cross top brakes but you lose bar width (especially as a 54cm+ bike will usually come with 42-44cm bars, too wide for many women regardless of stature, so may well need changing along with the tape)

Treks are popular, with the fancy iso whatsit frame, some say they are a tad dull but I guess that's down to the individual. Assuming it works for your wife, you can't go wrong with 105 for value

That said, if she is coming from a Triban I guess you are prepared for all of this (a 54cm triban is not the same frame size as 54cm bikes from most other manufacturers, they come up smaller)

Thanks @vickster she is 5'7" and its not from evans the shop has both WSD and mens when we spoke to the bike fitter he said he would make sure it fit her properly be it the WSD or mens with a free 1 hour fitting session thrown in i.e handlebars, seat, stem etc oh and the tape she has seen some purple tape she likes

And yes it's black but hey limited budget and all that

Ah so they have a 51cm? I am 99% sure a 54cm will be too big, even with a shorter stem (compare the men's and WSD geometries on the Trek site, see if they are the same TT)

They'll usually still charge you to change bars and stems etc.

Even with purple tape, I wouldn't buy a black bike  but each to their own

Happy shopping and make sure they let her take it out, a turbo fitting isn't a real substitute

At £900 you have lots of options from almost all manufacturers. You're into decent carbon money too (e.g. Dolan, planet X and Ribble) if she fancies plastic! That's not a limited budget

The WSD Trek Lexa SLX in blue is LUSH http://www.evanscycles.com/products/trek/lexa-slx-compact-2014-womens-road-bike-ec054299

Be aware the Madone is the racier geometry, Domane and Lexa are more 'sportive' relaxed

Joshua Plumtree

Approaching perfection from a distance.
I have a Madone 4.9 and it's terrific to ride.

The 2.1 shares the same geometry, I believe, but in an aluminium frame.

The geometry is fairly relaxed tbh and I would say it's more than adequate as a 'sportive' bike.

Well we are back from looking at bikes I the sale she went for a test ride and came back with the biggest smile ever she is more than happy.
She has gone for the 52 frame men size so we paid the money and a very good discount at that.
We pick it next sat when the fitter will change and alter certain things free of charge..
Overall very happy. Thanks for the replies and suggestions
