Ok guys, Ive been eyeing up some bikes lately to upgrade from my old an trustworthy Carrera Subway 2. Ive narrowed it down to two bikes mentioned above. From what i can see the Boardman bike is only available at Halfords which is a shame cos it'll mean I'll have to take it from their to my LBS to have it set up properly.
Does anyone have either of these two bikes or knows of any pro/cons on them?

Thanks ^_^

I was in the same dilemma. Although I was looking at the disc version of the trek.

I've gone for the boardman

The reasons being

It's a 1O speed compact crankset v triple on the trek. So gearing is near the same as my road bike.

The disc mechs are better located on the boardman which allows easier mounting of guards and racks.

The boardman also has better tyre clearence

The boardman is lighter and better specced.

Thanks guys. I was leaning towards the Boardman anyway. I think its a far better looking bike too. Is it good value for the money then considering all the spec?

Remember you'll get 10% discount if you're a British cycling member plus orde via quidco or top cashback for an extra 4% cashback

British cycling mebership is about £22 for the year. The main benifit is the 3rd party inscurance cover to cver you if you are at fault in an accident.
I have never used the 10% dc and I have joined BC for the inscurance cover .
Mind you 10% off a purchase of £250 and you have yor money back .
Join anyway, it does make sense.

I just opted for the Boardman Hybrid Comp. Head over heart. Carbon forks and the hydro brakes are just asking for trouble IMO for commuting everyday.

I can swap the BB5 brakes to BB7 and it's still alot cheaper than the team.

It cost me £24 last week to join British cycling like @Mark Walker said 10% off my £1300 roadie made it more than worth while and the years Insurance is an added bonus. I rung them and they e-mailed me a 10 day temporary membership and you print the Halfords voucher off the British Cycling website so all nice and easy
