At some point I will be getting a new bike.
I am 43 and like to ride good distances so am looking at a bike with a more comfort based geometry.
I was hoping someone on here owns or has tried a trek domane and can give me their opinion.
Several others catch my eye, the undisputed big 2 the specialized roubaix along with the giant defy.
I am also impressed by the scott cr1, cube agree and the cannondale synapse.
Any thoughts would be most welcome, obviously I will try before I buy but it is good to be armed with as much information as possible before I go.

WobblyBob on here got one quite recently. Maybe you could pm him. He sounds like he is loving it though and I am sure I read that he did a sportive on it quite soon after getting it.

I've got a domane 5.2

it's brilliant, I've got a dodgy back following a triple discectomy, but I've been doing 100km rides on it and getting off at the end without bother

I test rode it against a madone, and tbh unless you're a racer I have no idea why you'd choose a madone over the domane

I like it so much I've seriously considered buying a 2.1 as a commuter bike

I have a Giant Defy one and love it. I tried a lot of bikes last summer at the 1k budget and it felt the best for me with a 105 gear set etc. You have just got to go and try them as what's most important is how they feel to you and the fit.

If you want to know any specifics feel free to ask / PM me and I will try to help

Thanks folks, I like the look of the Domane 4.3 which is £1800 everywhere, do shops offer discounts or do trek fix the price that dealers are allowed to charge?

You can only ask for a discount, or try to find a 2012 model. I believe Trek do not sell bikes online, you have to buy in store. If no discount, ask for some discounts on kit, components etc

Trek can only be bought in store (so they and the dealers say) but as far as i know the dealer is not fixed on the price. That said i doubt if much of a discount can be had at the moment on a 2013 model.

It says £1500.00 on my browser. honest. I copied the number from the page. I don't have GBP symbol on my keyboard. I even refreshed the page.

Edit: I do have my local settings to US. That is probably the reason. I do use GBP as the currency though.
