Trike riders are good citizens

I like I think most trike riders are good citizens. When riding along streets or even bike paths, when we see junk that cause a flat, we can simply reach down and pick it up.

A few days ago, there was a cast iron water cap laying in an intersection, right in the driving lane. I rode out and put it back in its hole. A car honked and gave me a thumbs up.

Think I've told this story before, but I was riding on our tandem trike with my daughter and coming towards us was a pack of rockers on their Harley's etc. One rider was on one of those massive half car, half bike things. Aka a motor tricycle. To my surprise, he gave me a very cheerful wave.

Again yesterday I scooped up some sort of a bracket with sharp tangs, as I crossed an intersection. Probably saved someone a flat tire again.

When you ride a trike, if you see nails, screws or other junk on the street or bike path, you can just reach down and get it. I dont know how many times during the riding season that I have gotten that kind of junk off the path.

Annoying having to stop to pick it up tho', generally I'm moving to fast to litter pick first go!

You trike riders missed a thorn on the road between Bridgwater and Taunton today, but no worries, my front tyre picked it up.

In my area on cycle paths I find lots of horse 💩 and no I haven't got a shovel
if it is realy bad I phone the council and they clean it up

As a child if my Mum or Grandma heard the 'rag and bone' man coming down the road I was dispatched with a bucket and dustpan to collect any stray manure with "Don't come home without some " ringing in my ears................had to walk miles sometimes.

On the debits side, those of us riding upwrongs can't draft you.

That's true, often got moans & groans when I rode the recumbent on my club rides, i was s big lad,
I was the runs leader, very common to have a string tucked in behind me when leading,
This was negated when I was on the trike, pointless when windy day on the 3 - wheeler, and if it was very windy and on the Upwrong had to be carefull i didn't drop them all, big & strong like an Ox !
Was one guy who always tried to 'wheel' me, on a windy day ,down hill he didn't stand a chance, usually left them all !
