Trip advisor....the restaurants perspective

While I like the way Trip advisor keeps us on our toes (I'm a chef) sometimes I wish we had some way of rating our customers.

Tonight we had a table of 35 booked at 6:30. Pre ordered food, so not an issue...the staff came in an hour early (un paid) to make sure we gave them a quality evening. We had another 120 booked after 7:30 so it would be good to get them served and sorted before the rush.

By 7:30!!!!! they had mostly turned up, so we basically had to re cook all the food. Apparently some of the children were tired, so we had to serve some of the mains with the starters. Then no one remembered what they ordered so just started eating whatever main was close to them, meaning we had to cook 10 replacement dishes for those poor folk that did remember what they wanted. All this while the other 120 people were ordering and demanding food.

And the tip.......nothing......not a penny....CHEERS!!!!

So my rating is 1*...over demanding, poor timekeeping, disorganised cheapskates.


Rant over....it was a stressful night!

A couple of restaurants we go to have a policy where they won't seat a group or party until the entire party turns up. But they don't hold the table indefinitely and so if you don't want to lose your reservation, who's ever there needs to be seated 30 mins after the reservation time and the table is reset accordingly. Anyone turning up an hour late is not guaranteed a seat.
