On this occassion I was the trucker, not the cyclist...
Coming out of Aberdeen on Wellington Road (40 mph dual carriageway) about 5.30 yesterday afternoon, approaching traffic lights. Guy on Ridgeback (??) hybrid in inside lane, so I move out to pass, just as lights go to red, so we both stop, with me in outside lane, but trailer still covering most of inside lane. BMW pulls up behind me.
Lights turn green, cyclist moves off and so do I. I give him lots of room by staying in outside lane, but I don't/can't pull away fast enough for BMW idiot, who pulls into nearside lane and guns it, between cyclist and me
. Must have been VERY close to the bike, and the cyclist didn't look happy. He was wearing a helmet-cam, maybe it will find it's way to you-tube.
Lesson learnt for me; don't allow too much room for bikes. From now on I will be giving bikes half a lane, so that cars cannot cut between us
