Tynemouth/Whitley Bay/Seaton Sluice - Whitehaven road route?

I was wondering if anyone knew a good safe road route from Tynemouth, Whitley bay, Seaton sluice, or some other North Eastern coastal area to Whitehaven?

I know about the C2C and Reivers routes, but I would prefer to do it all on road since it will be a lot quicker and I want to do it on a road bike.

nice one.... needless to say, I never noticed the date on the post. Last seen 2012, I wonder if he has made it to. Whitehaven yet?
