I split a tyre on my run out in North Essex yesterday and need to replace this. The front one can be replaced whilst I'm at it and I can use this as the spare. They are cheapies that came with the Spesh Allez (700 x 23 wheel). Recommendations for replacement please. Bike doesn't tend to get used in the cold and wet, so I'm looking for tough summer alternatives.

Cheers

I have some Conti Ultra Gatorskins on my training wheels, which are very good, although I can not give much of an opinion as I only put them on on wednesday, but they do roll very nicely and have a good deal of puncture protection.

If you want something faster and lighter yet a bit more delicate go for Michelin Pro Race 3's: I use these for time trials and crits and they are excellent tyres with amazing levels of grip both in the dry and the damp (haven't used them in the wet) The amount of grip is inbelievable, and IMO well worth the money.

Hope this helps.

My tyre of choice is Vredestein Fortezza Tricomp. Been using them for years and love them. Never got on with Conti tyres (GP3000, Ultra Race and Ultra Sport). Too difficult to fit and cut up pretty quickly.

I quite fancy trying a pair of Vittoria Open Corsa CX, though I've heard they cut up pretty quick too, so I'll maybe plump for some Diamante Pro's for that bit of extra durability and puncture protection.

I use Hutchinson Fusions, I changed to them on my first road bike after getting loads of punctures with the original speediums.

Fusions came as standard on my new bike, cant rate them highly enough.
