Tyre upgrade

Hello,

I've got a Specialized Tricross Sport and I remember reading a review a while ago saying the supplied tyres aren't up to much.

Could anyone recomend some good tyres and explian the benefits as well. I ride 90% on road but also on dirt tracks etc and they need to be suitable for touring with a medium load.
