Hi all

I currently own a bog standard mountain bike and will be doing the London to Southend this month. Currently I've got knobbly tyres on my MTB but want to replace them with something more suitable for the road.

I ride mainly on roads and tow path tracks and would like some recommendations for semi tyres which are up to the job. Something slick or near slick in the middle with knobblies on the edge?

Cheap and cheerful is fine with me but I appreciate you get what you pay for.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

It all depends on what the tow paths are like. Bits of the tow path beside my local canal are impassible swampland, while further on it's all smooth tarmac.

Perhaps the Continental Twister.
A knobbly tyre (of sorts) that actually rolls reasonably well on the black stuff.
