Ultegra Front and rear mechs with 105 shifters and chainset

I replaced my BB30 bearings with the FSA adapter, fitted Hollotech 2 and a 105 crankset, all good.

I decided to upgrade my front and rear mech's with ultegra 6700, they were 105, the rear mech was getting a bit past it anyway and I thought I'd do both at the same time.

The rear seems to be OK, but there's a problem with the front. It's shifting quite slowly from the small to the large ring, I can live with that, but the worse problem is sometimes when changing from the large to the small ring it jumps straight off and into the frame/BB. It doesn't happen all the time, which is annoying to say the least. It's almost as if the spring is so powerful it just moves so quickly and flies past the inner ring.

The set up instructions are the same as my old 105, I am pretty sure it's set up OK.

Is there a way of reducing the spring tension, so it changes down less sharply?

Or is it a case of 105 shifters and ultegra aren't compatible?

It is likely to be the adjustment - maximum and minimum.

I use 105 shifters and chainset with Ultegra front & rear derailleurs on my Secteur.

need to set your limit screws by the sound of it. Shifters pull in or let out what they do, but mech pull or lets out too much so need to compensate with your limit screws.
