Underfloor heating

Would the use of carpets where there is underfloor heating adversely affect the heat output.

It's academic really, just that I am watching one of those "find me a property" programs on TV and the question popped into my head when the subject came up.

I don't think it would be comfortable as the small pipes they use sit onto of the floor boards so you would feel all the wire sized pipes

i rented a flat that underfloor heating , lets just say it was a cold flat
