Hi I own an old Linear recumbent and thinking of getting a new recumbent. I like USS and the LWB can you buy new ones or other USS LWB in the UK and where from?

The only one i know available in the UK is the Hase Tagun from someone like London recumbents http://www.londonrecumbents.com/index.php?id=371 Last time I was there they had one in stock which is unusual 'cos they normally get them to order.
Ah, of course there is the Bacchetta Bella (but OSS) here http://www.bacchettabikes.com/ available from

But it would be well worth looking at the Longbikes in the US http://www.longbikes.com/SiteII/Bikes/Slipstream/Slipstream.html because they are the development of the Ryan http://ryanownersclub.com/ which I used to own. That was the best "easy" bent i have owned.
That was replaced with a Bacchetta Cafe which is now discontinued but i love it and see no reason why their LWB bikes should not be as good.
BTW Keven at D Tek is a Bacchetta stockest and would be a good place to start..well worth a phone call 01353 648177, near Ely.

The Linear was also my first recumbent, but I did not have any idea what to upgrade to.
Eventually I tried a number of bikes and ended up with Trice.
DO take the opportunity to try other bikes as there will be one to suit you somewhere, and each has its advantages. The main thing for me was the ease of junctions with a shorter wheelbase!

I run a pair of USS recumbents, but they're both SWB. Both are pretty stable, the SMGTe particularly so.
Of course, that might be because it has its own relative gravity.

Old-school Linears can certainly be creaky -they are all aluminum after all. Try a modern all-welded Linear from Peter Stull, 'The Bicycle Man' in New York State, who is the present owner of the marque. (No connections . . . )
Nevertheless, my ancient Iowa-built Linear is silent. That's right, silent. The loudest thing is the Sram hub in high gear or the whirr of the back wheel spokes.

I'm going to have to wait a while before I get another long bike as I've just bought a Schauff Andalusia Rohloff upright. It was such a good price I couldn't resist.
So I'm back to saving my pennies again. Will keep D Tek in mind been there about 3 years ago made a mistake of trying a trike while there needed surgery afterwards to get grin off my face.
