I may be replacing my rear wheel soon as 1) I have damaged the alloy slightly when using caustic soda to remove my seat post and 2) the walls are wearing thin anyway where the brakes contact.
I use the bike for urban commuting on and off road where this is possible; so some single track and mostly road.
I would like a nice fast wheel that could possibly take a skinnier tyre but tough enough to endure a bit of single track potholing. Any suggestions? What price range – I would like to think no more than £40 for the rear wheel.
