Using Windows Video Software, help please

Just editing my commuting videos using windows live video software. I have cut out a short piece only about 25 seconds long but still taking 25 mins to upload.

What settings/format on you tube do you choose when uploading your video to you tube, that enables a good balance in quality and upload speed?

youtube takes ages to upload.

saved as standard windows in the past and been ok, although it takes ages.

By Windows Live I assume you mean Movie Maker, Microsoft's free video editor. This should allow you to produce your clips at a lower resolution but the re-production will itself be slow and could take as long as the upload.
As Peteaud mentioned, uploading to YouTube takes ages anyway and it may be quicker to upload at you current resolution than to re-produce and upload at a lower resolution.
I don't know what resolution you are currently producing at but if its HD 1050p then you may consider 720p or 480p for future productions. This res will give good quality as long as you don't intend using the full screen for viewing.
