Extremely sorry about this but yet again another person requiring help on a new bike.
Before we start, my biking history - 14yr old upgraded from Raleigh Chopper to drop handlebar Raleigh Olympus.
17 yr old discovered girls etc. No cycling whatsoever for 23 years. 40 years of age bought a Apollo TDF (think this was superseded by the Carrera TDF) rode it about 6 times and that's it. (Didn't like the prone riding position). Now 45 years of age, knees cannot put up with jogging to keep fit , therefore on the look out for a hybrid, flat bar etc.
Budget approx £500.
Would like (as everybody else) the most "bang for his buck". I've trawled through plenty of sites / forums / etc to get a preferred choice but to no avail.
Help required please !!!
My riding will be - on the road for about 3 miles to get to old railway tracks that have been tarmaced for cycling / walking (15/25 miles long) with the odd route of approx 2 miles light gravel surface.
It'll be fair weather riding only and never more than 2 times a week (more likely just once a week at best).
I've looked at several bikes (not ridden) and would like you guys to give an opinion on what would be the best bike (or best for me).
Bikes in my mind at the moment are -
Halfords - Boardman Perf Comp £399
Tredz - Giant Escape 2 2014 £399
Tredz - Giant Escape 1 2014 £499
Tredz - Specialized Sirrus sport 2014 £500
Evanscycles - Ridgeback Advance 3.0 2013 £450
Evanscycles - Trek 7.2FX Disc 2014 £475.
Suggestions for the above or alternatives would be greatly appreciated please.
Thanks.
