The other day I had to take the back wheel off for a puncture. Since I reassembled it the 3 speed gears seemed very tight and slow to respond. I worked out that when you put the little rod/cable thingy in, best not to tighten it fully. When the cable is attached the little chain points at about 7 minutes past the hour, but when naturally tightened it sits at about 5 past the hour. So when you attach the cable it forces it a little too tight, and causes the gears to play up... having backed it off half a turn, then flipped the chain the right way, all running great.

Plus I put on new brake pads. Very happy boy
