Can anyone recommend good video editing software, looking to start pulling old and new clips and pics together to form small 5-10 minutes vids

Any recommendations.

Windows Movie Maker is free, easy to use, and has most of the features we're likely to need. I had Sony Vegas Pro, which can do pretty much anything you can imagine, but it was a bit of a learning curve and I've ended up just using WMM for some years now.

As above, Movie Maker is cheap as free and very simple, however output options are limited, and it doesn't like working with large files. Vegas is excellent and would be my recommendation for a cheap Windows based editor.

Before they f*cked the interface, I'd have recommended iMovie if you're using a Mac. Now I'd go with Premiere elements for basic needs, and Final Cut Pro if you're after something a bit more involved (and expensive).
