I have seen a number of photos on Facebook / Twitter recently with the above tag line. People clearly breaking the law, taking a photo on their phone in the middle lane doing speeds of approx 70mph and then posting direct to Facebook / Twitter.

What would you do in these instances? If reported, would there be any action? Who would you report to? Or would you just ignore it and move on with life?

If this has been discussed before then please delete. Thought it would be good to see peoples views and get some thoughts on the matter.

Would this be available and used as evidence though. It is quite obvious the poster isnt stationary and clearly using some form of device to take the photo. Surely a camera is classed as a Handheld device?

Don't waste your time (or anyone else's) on this. You've no idea if the picture was taken by a mounted camera or a rear passenger leaning over the driver's shoulder. Nor will you know the reg of the vehicle involved or, in most cases, the place where it happened.

It's hard enough getting some police areas to deal with the safety of cyclists seriously without wasting their time, and hacking them off, with this kind of stuff.

It could be a still from a dash mounted video cam. Using some bluetooth stuff, I imagine you could even rig it to post direct to Facebook without human intervention.

It's not even a terribly interesting view. My commute's dull enough as it is, without having to look at someone elses's. Strange what some people consider twitter-worthy.

I cycle over Tower Bridge twice a day and often see people doing this. I guess they need to show friends that they've actually been over Tower Bridge!
I've never reported anyone.
