Managed to pick up new project tonight thought it was an old raleigh but it is a runwell ladies made in Birmingham some where around 1930 can't find any numbers any where so am struggling a bit for exact age single speed rod brakes all seem to. Be work ing ok will take some pics tomorrow if anyone is interested

Started to take it apart tonight surprised how easy it was don't think it will ever be showroom quality but will look okay when it's done wheels need a lot of work 40 spokes on rear 32 on front oil filled hubs by perry of Birmingham can't date it properly but think it may be late20s or early 30 bottom bracket by baylis wiley crank is so smooth any advice from anyone would be a help

Wheels really are very rusty but seem solid any advice on cleaning or do I go for the aged look paintwork is also pretty bad but frame is solid rod brakes work very well and are cleaning up nice very little info on the net about runwell so still unable to date properly have found a serial number on frame but little else

Looks nice, I just bought one exactly like this!
Do you have any way of dating it coz I've only got one serial number near the seat post

I haven't actually collected the one I bought yet but the only way to date it is with the serial number near the seat post or if it has a three speed rear hub that would have a date on it but yours is single speed so it wont have a date there.

Hi. I've just viewed your images showing Runwell cycle. It looks more 1920s than 30s. The size also looks like a child's version.
May I suggest the following link. www.veterancycleclublibrary.org.uk As a V-CC member myself, I've just looked. there are 4 x Runwell brochures there.
