I am being made redundant - boo! I have just missed (not intentionally) a meeting to discuss 'virtual vacancies' and the process for applying for them. What's a virtual vacancy then, something that's not really not there?

Perhaps they make as many people redundant as they need to but then some extra people resign afterwards?

Or perhaps they can't count and accidentally make too many people redundant!

Candidates are commodities like any other. It's hard to sell commodities if you don't already have them on the books or a reliable source.

People advertise roles that do not exist to gather the candidates they hope to sell in future.
