Fairweather, Rocket Ryan, Rev. Phil, Grinder and yours truly set out from Bangor to ride to Swansea, calling in at the three W.A.A. bases (Caernarfon, Welshpool, Swansea) in order raise money for the Welsh Air Ambulance.
This vital service is completely run through donation, not government handout. Every time the helicopter takes off it costs £1200. When we arrived the Caernarfon airbase the helicopter had been called out five times that day. It soon adds up. Sermon over.
So we arrived at Caernarfon the evening before in order to get to meet the guys who do the actual life saving bit. They were still on call, but were due back very soon. So I took the opportunity to take some pictures.
Then we saw the helicopter returning in the distance and it was soon upon us
Once everything was calm and quiet we were told about how the helicopter operates. It was very interesting especially when you consider the condtions they have to do it in. They carry all the equipment that an ordinary ambulance has but have so much less space it beggars belief.
One part of the helicopter I never want to see or visit!
