Hi guys,
After selling my Giant Defy 4 at the start of the "summer" due to the frame being too big, I have the urge to get a bike again now.
I am after something around the 55cm frame size, and £300 would be my top budget, the cheaper the better, but I also quite like quality

Done a search and can't seem to find anything at the min, I am located in Bridgend, but can travel to Cardiff, Swansea and Valleys.
Aiming to purchase on the 20th, but can buy before if you need to sell.

Also open to offers on hybrids and mountain bikes too

Cheers,
Kris

I won't be the last to recommend the Triban 3 from Decathlon.

3000+ miles since christmas on mine. Love it

Hmmm, that does seem pretty good, no stores anywhere near me though, so will have a think about it, as I would ideally like to try my next bike out before buying - bought my defy online and the sizing was all wrong for me.

It is a really good price though
Brakes look pants mind, but that's easily solved.

The Triban is looking more and more tempting
What sort of brakes are on there? Are they deep drop ones or normal size? Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Kris

They're regular sized. I certainly have no problem stopping with them  The pads that came with the bike lasted about 1200 miles in the awful winter weather so I wouldn't be concerned. Upgrading the wheels would be my priority if anything.

Krisgoss,I bought my Triban 3 online and like you really would have prefered trying before buying . However , as there was not a Decathlon store near me I got as much info online and measured myself from every conceivable angle. In the end ,given the info I had got, I went for a 57cm Triban 3 but even then I needed to tweak the bike more to get it comfortable for me . this included for and aft as well as height on the seat, turning the brake hoods slightly inward and also tilting the handlebars backwards slightly to fit me . It`s taken about 3 weeks of slight tweaking to get the bike feeling good for me and now I love it. Even ensuring the tyre pressures are within the recomended settings made a big difference. So what I am saying is buying online is ok for the bike size , if you do your homework, and then tweak the bike from there . Final point, when I first got the Triban I hated it because it wasn`t set up for me so I was going to send it back , but after much research and tweaking I now love it. Good luck .
