Ouch........... been lucky so far in my 21 year cycling history - although did feel something crash land into my lid a few months ago - quick stop, hat off, shake hair..... OK !

Nothing takes away the pain of being stung like some illicit sex - get onto www.whore.net

Wasps are really nasty buggers - this time last year I saw one attacking a bluebottle, in mid air, then dragging it off to a hedge to eat. Then last week one was attacking a honey bee in the garden. I snipped off its abdomen with scissors and I think the bee survived. I've had a grudge since one of them stung my daughter on holiday 15 months ago.

I had a wasp fly into the gap between my glasses and my face once. Fortunately (?) it stung me below the eye rather than in it.

As I recall, they're worse at this time of year than any other. They eat fermenting windfall fruit, get a bit tipsy, and swarm about stinging the bejesus out of anything they think might be looking at their bird, or spilling their pint.
