I have a bit of a thing about buying ready made drinks. Apart from beer that is. I really hate the idea of bottled water and also cans and plastic bottles of use-once packaging. The habit of buying a drink in a container rather than one that came out of the tap must produce mountains of waste and use up a vast amount of energy.

Also on holiday I take a knife or scissors and cut open sun cream bottles. There is about £1 worth still left in them that sticks around the bottle. This is great for embarassing your kids too.

I work (comparatively) regularly in Cyprus, and i assume the same applies to many hot countries...You always have a supply of bottled water at work, and at home actually. I remember asking 'what happens to all these (probably) millions of plastic bottles ?'...the answer...'they all go to landfill...its a huge problem'
:laugh::wacko:

Working abroard gives you another perspective on things. When you see how backward even some developed countries are, you wonder why we're worrying.
Again, in Egypt the poor quality of vehicles and therefore their emissions makes you realise that we're actually very very good at dealing with some aspects...only to be undone 10 fold by other countries. The pollution in Cairo is unbelieveable...smoke belching lorrys, ancient cars, the volume of traffic has to be seen to be believed.
Still, leading the way (if thats what we're doing) is better than doing nothing at all...but when you see whats happening in other countries, you can only hope they catch up...eventually.
