Need to go into London (the Barbican) after work tonight from Watford and was thinking Watling Street seemed the best route, as it'll take me right from Elstree onto Marylebone Rd without much chance of navigation issues.

Is it likely to be choc-a-block heading into town around 5:30pm? And if so, can anyone suggest a better or at least more easygoing route.

(bit nervous had my first bit of car-bike contact at the Welsh end of the A5 over the weekend when a car passed too close, stripped the panniers off and sent me into a garage forecourt and this seems like pushing karma a bit it being coincedentally the same road)

Ta! Went Watling Street in the end, seemed okay tbh - enjoyed the ride in. Was worried it would be a fast A-road, but seemed more like a high street most of the way, and not that busy either. Bit noobie still on road sense and city riding if seemed an odd question.
