It is surprising how touring setups accumulate weight at an astonishing rate so I have started using lighterpack.com to quantify my various setups, I have started with my MTB in overnight camping trim, I always try to route as much as possible off-road.

I haven't included food or some spare clothes yet as they are a bit variable - just the essentials; shelter, sleeping, cooking, luggage and bike, it's very interesting, link below!

Here is Overnight MTB

Having spent last week pedalling in Devon, pushing up some monster hills, I need to check my weights!
My bike is around 15kg, but I know my kit for 4 days was over 16….way too heavy!

It is amazing how quickly the weight escalates, I was going to be a nerd and use a spreadsheet then I found the lighterpack site and went super nerd so I can share my setup with others and I am a sucker for a pie chart ^_^

Here is a link to lighterpack with the data for my MTB setup for longer camping, main change to the overnight setup are the addition of 2 more 7l packs on a front fork axle mount system and a change from the gas MSR stove to the Optimus multi-fuel stove and fuel bottle.

Total for bike and luggage is 23kg which excludes food and spare clothes which are variable depending on weather etc
