No.1 Team in the world.

Footnote: Pity (speaking as an Essex Man) that Bopara didn't contribute, though.

Also pity that India weren't competitive.

Yes they were, User - they were just thrashed! During the Friday Night Ride, we were hoping that Tendulkar would get say, 500 not out in the Second Innings to keep the game on edge... alas, better cricket won the day.

After decades of watching England losing, it's truly astonishing to see them breaking the Indian team after winning so convincingly in Australia. As well as being skilful, this England team has great resilience and courage - the things they'd seemed to have completely lost.

Of course, it's disappointing that there's no suspense for the last test (and I'm not really interested in the ODIs anyway). But after suffering for so long as an England supporter, this is a minor regret . I want to see England play South Africa...

I'm not convinced, I didn't see much of the match, what I did see had me thinking, are India throwing the match?

Top performance from the chaps! And no, no-one threw anything. Their tails went down 'cos they knew they were heading for a drubbing, but that's not the same as throwing it. India just don't have bowlers who can kill, and without that, nothing else matters.

Shame England's rugby team can't Do The Basic Things Well. To dominate to that extent and still end up taking a beating takes quite some doing.

It's not a full strength India side but even so, well done to England for some great results.

If we were playing Pakistan I would definitely say they were throwing the match.

I forget who, but someone commented that India were playing worse than Pakistan when the latter were throwing matches... India were unlucky with injuries, and seemed not to have much depth - but this England team seem very good indeed, to say the least.

England's performances in the last year or so, remind me of the thrashings Australia used to give us in the 1990s - ruthless and unrelenting.

I agree, also being an Essex man, but don't forget Alastair Cook! More than makes up for it.

Indeed, very much so, and the West Indies in the 70s and 80s. As long as we don't become arrogant, then I'll be happy.

Great effort though and consistently good, following on from the winter's drubbing of the Aussies.

I dont really follow cricket that seriously so i might be way out on this - but there seems to be alot less general interest in England compared to what it was like a few years ago (peaking with the Ashes in 2005 i guess) despite the success.

Normally you would have thought a team being so good would have led to even more support and interest!

Four reasons spring to mind:

1. In 2005, we hadn't won the Ashes for about 18 years.
2. We beat Australia's best side, which is one of the best ever to have played the game.
3. The series was very closely matched.
4. It was on terrestial TV so more people watched it.

Every match is a sell-out even at rip-off prices so its popularity is unquestionable. On the 5th day of the 3rd test (no tickets are pre-sold for the last day), the queues were miles long, overnight and thousands got turned away.

England have been improving since Duncan Fletcher took over with Hussein as captain apart from the odd blip but Andy Flower and Strauss have instilled a greater discipline and continuity. It's not luck and we should appreciate it while it lasts.

He's South African and supporting India as it's "anyone but England" for him! And when England win he still claims glory as a South African.

I've got a mate like that, particularly with regard to the rugby.

Must admit, though, there are a 'few' Saffers in our squad: Strauss, Pietersen, Prior, Trott, Dernbach, Kieswetter, Lumb etc!
