Well I'm not normally one to post on here about bad or inconsiderate driving - simply because in my 2 1/2 years of commuting I have hardly had any incidents worth mentioning.
However I feel compelled to write about a small incident on tonight's journey home. I was buzzed by a Golden Boy coach on a straight stretch (Waltham Way, Chingford to be precise). The road was clear the other side so he had plenty of space to pull out but instead passed within maybe 12-18 inches of my handlebars. I was a tad miffed and muttered to myself about calling the company and complaining. Shortly after I filtered past the coach at the lights further on. As I rolled alongside I saw the driver's window open and rather than a snarled comment I calmly said 'You should have given more room back there".
I got through the lights before him and it was at least a mile further down the road that I eventually heard him rumbling behind me. I held a good position on the road as there was plenty of traffic on the other side and I didn't want to encourage an overtake. Eventually a decent gap appeared and he passed totally on the other side. As he pulled in I gave him the big thumbs up to which he responded with a flash of his hazards.
Commuting harmony was restored!
