Wonderful!

There's something about old trains makes me go back to being a kid again ;)

I'm pretty sure ALL kids would love trains too, if you could just catch them young enough (ie before 11 years old when they buy their first Citroen Saxo).

Looks like a great day out

Yeah, my little nephew (2 and a half) loves trains, some of his first words were Ropley and Alresford - the local preserved line stations!

And the best thing is, when he pretends to be a steam train, he's learned (from his dad I think) to do it properly, with his arms as reciprocating con rods, instead of going round at the same time...

We got our old lego out at Xmas, and when we asked him what he wanted us to build, it was 'steam train!' over and over - we ran out of wheels!

I sold them an overhead electrictravelling crane, it is in the building with the curved roof in photo 3. That building came from BR Swindon Works. I not really an anorak, honest. Well, I am, when it comes to cranes!

I like the West Somerset Railway. Though, when I booked their dining car for a trip to Minehead, the food was authentic 1950s buffet carriage. Not good. That was a few years ago now. Have they improved?

Lovely place Minehead.

We always visit the station when we take the grandkids away for a break.

I love the old steam and deisel trians, the new stuff has no character:sad:

Been on that several times, but more often the East Somerset one. Took Father in law on for a birthday and we got to ride in the engine.

We went to a disco at Cranmore on the East Somerset Line and came home covered in grease:angry: but it was a good night

We parked in the carpark and were walking towards the sheds when train stopped and the diver gave us a lift to the sheds, how's that for service:laugh:

Yes, they are in Hants. So is my nephew, since, conveniently for him, it's where his parents live.

I meant HIS local railway, obviously, not mine. Mine would be Pickering and Goathland. I've not taught him to say Goathland or Pickering yet, although I did teach him to say (not apropos of trains) 'aluminium'.
