I certainly don't expect miracles, and appreciate that grip will be lessened in wet conditions. However, I am getting really fed up of my Ultra Gatorskins, which go from reliable to "Oh christ, I wonder if I can stop/make that corner without going over") on wet tarmac.

I'm tempted to go back to the wire on 25C Stelvios I was running prior to the Contis, but I'd be interested in opinions on decent wet weather tyres in the 23-25C range.

You may want to consider the Schwalbe Blizzard.

I've been using Conti Sport Contacts 700x28 for the past two years or so but I am going to replace them with the Four Seasons in the same size soon. They have a softer compound so should provide more wet weather grip.

You can get the 4 Seasons at J E James for 20 quid a go. I run 25s and find them hard-wearing and grippy.

humph regarding gators, I have no idea how anyone can ride at this time of the year with tyres they're not confident about

I found that 4 seasons (23s) are better in the wet than ultragators, but they are a bit pricey. £20 a pop is a good price.

I'm a bit like Tynan - I want tyres that handle really well, so I'm using Schwalbe Stelvios on teh recumbent and GP4000 on the langster. Great handling, and I use them all year round.

uh huh, GP4000 on the rear, cheap as chips Lugano on the front that I have to say I've found really decent so far

Are Michelin Krylion Carbon's still being made/sold? Excellent winter/wet weather tyre IMO. I bought the last pair of 25mm's Wiggle had some time ago, though they're like gold dust now.
