What is going on?
Not one close pass today, some of the most courteous driving I have seen in a while.

There are two proper hills on my route, Ok - a warm up hill and a proper hill.
I got to the warm up hill and a bin lorry caught up behind me. I was expecting an overtake at any moment but he stayed behind me for the whole hill (a bit over ½ mile – 14-16 mph).

When I got to the bottom of the big hill a fairly old digger turned onto the hill behind me, there is a nasty bend at the start of the hill and I wanted to be past it before he overtook me so I put a bit of effort in. Past the bend I realised that I was dropping him (at 10mph!). Over the top of the hill I never saw him again!

Now the question.
The digger was going slower than me on a 60mph road with good overtaking opportunities; cars regularly pass me with minimal space and no reduction in speed. Why was there a queue of cars behind the digger, despite opportunity to pass? I think only one car came past him.

Have you woken up yet, things like that only happen in dreams.

'cos the digger's much more likely to scratch their car than you are.

I take it it was early morning ?
I left at 7.10am. After 7 weeks of peace and no incidents in 30 mins there were 3 overtakes that were too close.
Coming home the traffic was v heavy. 28 minutes to get back but I reckon 3 were spent stuck behind buses in the traffic.
