What a waste of space!

I've just collected a parcel from the post office. It was a cardboard box measuring 13" x 9" x 5".

The contents:

1 x invoice
1 x crumpled piece of brown paper
1 x small zip lock bag containing 210cm of dynamo lighting cable.

I was very excited when i saw the box. I was puzzled when I picked it up and felt the lack of weight. I was gobsmacked when i saw the contents.

It was from Rose Versand and was posted from Germany. I though the Germans took green issues seriously. This was an instance of excessive packaging gone mad. A small padded envelope would have done the job just as well.

Rose always do that. My Lumotec Plus came in a box big enough to hold a portable TV.

My Lumotec came in a separate large box from the wiring despite being in the same order. Thankfully the Shimano hub dynamo connector was packed with the Lumotec.

It's a pain in the ar$$ when they ship tiny orders in huge boxes, which don't fit through the letter box, then you're out when they try and deliver, then you take a trip to the depot and wait in a queue for 1/2 hour just to find that it was something that could perfectly well have fitted through the letter box in smaller packaging.

And don't get me started on things in the supermarket that are wrapped in layer after layer of packaging ...

Sounds as if they may just have been using up old stock, most companies are using metric packs nowadays.
