A shared pavement that I occasionally use on my commute to work has recently had some additions to it's signage, I am confused ............

As you approach all looks fairly straighforward, bikes on the left..................

Little bit further on similar guidance for people coming the other way or cycling backwards...........

But then.....................

Now call me selfish but they are not leaving us much room compared to the walkers, or is it a warning that tarmac ends here ?

I believe those are the scissor guides, are they not?

I guess road conditions / traffic means you would prefer to ride on the pavement? Personally I would avoid it otherwise just ride slowly on the pavement veering for any paedestrians.

It is a legal shared footpath/cyclepath has been for years, the road alongside is derestricted as far as speed limit and has had many, some fatal, crashes between cars and roadside trees/bushes. In this case I would rather stay away from the road.

Some pedestrians are so easy to hit there is no need to veer for them. Mwahahaha.

One of the reasons I never use silly shared paths like that.
Stick to the roads.

I think...and stress think that they are using the road theory of do not cross a continuous white line but you can cross a broken one...that really is stupid though and just asking for an argument imho.

Now this one is funny, especially as its right next to Clapham Common, where they start the London to Brighton charity ride

Arhhh no , Wandsworth is like most London boroughs and has what they call flexible sinage. This means that at any given moment they can change their mind.

I fell foul of a one way road in Westminster that had been made two way for cyclist for ages suddenly went back to one way for 2 days !!!:excl:

Local council have advised the broken line is to warn cyclists about the edge of the path, black/smooth vs green/bumpy
