Thank you everyone for the info ! But now if I want to buy A hybrid..Any idea as to which one should I go for!!

 Actually best to work from the ground up and identify anything you know you want, or don't want, on a bike. Types of handlebars, frame clearance for tyres, wheel size, frame material, fork material, ability to fit mudguards and racks, these can all have a heavy influence. Your intended useage will have a big impact on what you need in these areas. But there's no substitute for experience and, once you've done a few hundred miles, your views on suitable bikes for you may alter. Unless you really know what you want I'd avoid spending big bucks on the first one. Maybe get a reasonable all rounder for up to £400 from EBC or Decathlon. If you get in to cycling you'll want something nicer, and have a better idea of what, and you can then use the cheaper one as a do it all, leave outside shops/pubs bike.

Yes you are absolutely right that I should avoid spending big bucks on the first one! But there would be some Hybrid bikes which I would get at a cheaper price right?

The trade off you have to consider is that lower price bikes in general will be heavier and made of lower spec components and may hinder your cycling experience

You could look at the Carrera Subway Hybrid which is one of a few decent bikes in Halfords but if you do venture into this vipers den I would recommend you avoid their other offerings (Boardmans excepted) and don't let them sell you any of their other bicycle shaped objects.

I started with a Trek 7.1fx hybrid last year and really liked it,cost £320 with a few accessories thrown in.
6 months later it was time for something lighter,so now the Trek is my shop/pub/emergency bike.
It's a good plan but in hindsight I would have spent a bit more for a lighter one.
