We seem to have been plagued around our few houses for the last month or so, with small birds (white body with black wings and quite gobby), the bloody things are flying around here in there hundreds, and trying to build nests up under my roof/facias etc. Now they are doing it to everybody`s houses, and there is sh*t everywhere, and there are new nests every day when I get home.

We are surrounded by trees, why don`t they feck off and use those??

Never had this problem before, nor have I seen this type of bird before. Anybody know what they are??

Sounds like House Martins.

BTW:
House martins and their nests are fully protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, which makes it an offence intentionally to kill, injure or take any wild bird. It is an offence to intentionally take, damage or destroy the eggs, young or nest of a house martin whilst it is being build or in use.

Puzzle game procrastinator!
You beat me to it - I was just looking up the penalties - also up to 6 months imprisonment.

I think I've got mine back. I haven't seen them yet but the white crap on the pavement has reappeared!

:stop: They're on the amber list, and not only are you exposing yourself to a possible fine of up to £5000, you can end up with up to 6months in prison...

Cracking a solo.
In fact, I'd like to say that there are few greater pleasures in life as far as I'm concerned than sitting out on a summer evening with a cold one watching the swifts, martins or swallows (whatever you're lucky enough to have) swooping and diving and performing their aerial acrobatics, wonderful!

Think yourself lucky you are not being plagued by sea gulls (yes I know it's a catch all name :okay:)
I've got one bastard herring gull attacking me every bloody day walking to work. Dive bombing me with shoot and hitting me.

I want to smack the sod.

House Martin are lovely birds. They take a huge amount of insects on the wing reducing the amount we get plagued by them ;)
