What are you doing this year for Christmas? (there, I said it!) :santa:
Looks like hubby will be off work (yay!) and as the kids are older/flown the nest, no 6am start for us!

Every year I threaten to get a take-away and every year I cook a full dinner!
I don't have a large family (dad and brother) but my eldest son (25) may come up from Cheshire to stay for a couple of days. The teens that are at home (19 and 18) will probably stay in bed until food is ready
My youngest, (13), has Autism and will be bouncing around at 9am, wanting to open presents - he will then retreat to his room with his latest Star Wars Lego set, where he will hole up until it's built.

If the weather is okay :snowball: I may leave them all to it and go for a :bicycle:
What's your plans?

As long as I get my Xmas morning bike ride in (30 mile). I am happy to drink and eat the day away.

Eat drink and be miserable, I never enjoyed Christmas as a child and it seems to have stuck with me.

Awww. I loved it as a kid and it was my mums favourite time of the year.
She's passed away now and it always makes me so sad she's not here to share it with us, but I usually toast her memory and get by

I sort of like Christmas but all the s*** that goes with it gets on my tits.

edit: For s*** read commercial overkill.

Yes, I do agree!
As a kid my best memories were making decorations with my mum and watching her as she made the Christmas pudding, whilst singing along to Christmas carols on the radio

I don't go OTT with presents (can't afford to anyway!) but most of my shopping is done online these days (have a thing about crowds).
We have a nice traditional meal and watch the re-runs on tv.
In the evening I play a board game with the youngest and the (by then) half-drunken teens!
Sometimes their friends drop in over the festive period, which is lovely, I love being surrounded by good company, and they are good kids

I have the task of organizing the retired lads xmas dinner in a Leeds pub.Last year 23 turned up.Great fun We are going back to the first one we used four years ago.The Stick or Twist,a Wetherspoons place. They did us proud for a couple of years then we moved on and last years was a let down. Not enough waitress or waiters on duty, those at the top were nearly finished when those at the bottom had not even started. So we go back a little sheepish and cap in hand.Going to book it next tuesday, then i have the task of chasing deposits and collecting money.

STOP IT - It's only just gone October..... No talk of Xmas, or you'll create a rash of Avatars in silly hats, and "festive" musak in the supermarkets......

But the supermarkets already have christmas stuff in!!
And I have an excuse - I had to shop early for my daughter, son-in-law and two grandsons, as I'm going to visit them in Cambridgeshire on 31st Oct for a week

My local Sainsbury already have christmas stuff in display, and have done so since the schools went back... can't we at least get Halloween and Bonfire Night out of the way before they start ramming xmas down our throats?
