What base layer??

I have the Altura Nightvision but what kind of baselayer should I wear under this?

A couple or three given the weather at the mo but dont get too hung up on the word base layer you could end up paying top money when something else would do.

If I wore a night vision this morning I would have a turtle neck base layer (nike or adidas the ones golfers use) long sleeved winters cycling jersey kind of roubaix type thermal and that would be it but everyone's different +1 on the jacket its an excellent jacket albeit a little on the bright side for me

It is a bright jacket!!

On the base layer, probably just one would do me as I end up warm quite quickly!

I have an Endura baa baa base layer, which is merino wool. It's soft, it's warm, it gets the sweat off your skin and it is the only well used bit of my cycle gear that doesn't smell after 18 months of use. (I wash them regularly, but after a while they start to retain the smell, especially as most of them are 30oc wash only)

No need to spend £20.

Ideally you need something that wicks away sweat-not cotton.

A £6 jobbie from Decathlon will do. These or these

I have the Altura Nightvision windproof. One of the base layers is usually enough.

Jeez, I just had a look at new version of my favorite base layer (a windproof one), it'd cost £46 to replace now. It always seem to keep me the right temperature no matter what I'm doing and isn't too bulky but at that I might baulk I've also got a descent one which I picked up for £15 and quite like its fit. In summer however I wear a String Vest type or cheap Aldi base layers.

Merino for me too. It' a wonder material in my book.

Endura baa baa for me I have long sleeve for winter and short sleeve for warmer weather.

I used to be happy with polyester base layers, until I tried merino

I think the Planet X bundles are pretty good value usually. I love the 250g long sleeve one, with zip up neck, jersey type cut and three rear pockets. Very versatile.

Another vote for merino, recent convert from Helly Hanson. Took a chance and purchased two S/S from Aldi, no going back.

Yet another vote for Merino, I have HHs and one fom Decathlon which was nice and cheap and rather good, use them for hill walking & work too.
