Morning guys, need some advice on my bike. I'm a 6'1 tall, 17.5 St rugby player who is trying to loose weight and get fit. So i brought a scott speedster30 2014 in march and rode it for approx 2 weeks and then 2 spokes worked them self's loose. Took the bike back to the shop and had them tightened. Then after 10-12 weeks I was getting a creaking noise from the frame. Returned it to the shop and was told scott would replace the frame. They have now told me they will replace the whole bike for a scott speedster 30 2015. Just concerned that as I'm so big/strong that I'm going to have a problem with this bike. Can anyone advise me on whether this bike is suitable for me or could they recommend a bike that would be ? Thanks for you time.

Get stronger wheels with more spokes? Any aluminium frame should be able to cope with 17.5 stone

You're a lightweight weakling, shouldn't have any probs caused by your weight. I doubt the problems you've had so far are related to your size, mass or power output.

i'm half a stone lighter than you and ride on carbon rims with 18/21 spokes respectivley with no problems whats ever

i also ride on campag zondas which have minimal spokes and a strange pattern and have no problem with them too

Yep, probably a bad set up to start, go with the new bike I'm sure the weight isn't a problem.
