Hi All,

Always been an everyday cyclist but during the particularly harsh winter this year I got off the bike and into the car. Now I can't be bothered to cycle to work anymore.

How can I overcome this dip in my lust for cycling?

Sell the car, it worked for me, sold my last car in 1994 and really don't want to buy another one ever...

Buzzy I can send around a couple of colleagues to follow you to work in the car.....by the time they've trumped up 4 different offences you'll have no choice but to cycle....MwwwwHaaaaaHaaaaa
Love Vike

Did any body else start shortening Buzzy Jeff to BJ and then think better of it?

Every single morning I think "I can't be bothered to ride today" and every single journey - about 10 minutes in - I have forgotton that feeling!

Think of the weight gain if you don't do it?!

That is so true, getting out of bed is the hardest part, but 2 mins down the road I love it, to be free, to get to work under my own steam, and not be a big pussy going by car

You could sign up for a sportive or an audax or something this summer. I've signed up for Quebrantahuesos in June, and the knowledge that I've got a hell of a lot of training to do in the next couple of months helps convince me to get on the bike every morning! (well, not every morning)

I've had that over the last two years through my fitness deteriorating and it has been a struggle.I have recently improved and got some fitness back....possibly due to the fact that I have cut the booze out quite considerably....I have a heavy enough challenging work schedule as it is so boozing on my days off was not helping at all.

The things that kept me going through the rough times was I dislike the tube very much and I haven't got a car to fall back on.

Plus the benefits due to the fact I sit on my ar53 all day long I need a bit of excercise really. My weight is holding steady.

I tried giving my car away to my mam. She gave it back after a few months because she said people were staring at her (she is 75 and it's an Impreza Turbo). So now it sits in the street collecting moss, sycamore p1ss and black stuff. I would sell it, but its worth nowt and besides, I can't be bothered. Back to the OP, I agree with somone else - pack your rucsack the night before, put your kit on the floor and have some good scoff ready. It's easy then.

Most difficult part for me is getting out of bed,4.15 if I go by bike or 5ish if in car. That extra 45mins is so appealing sometimes.
5 weeks off the bike during that horrible winter and I couldn't wait to get back on bike, still getting back to the fitness level I was at in November but it's slow going.
Will agree with many others in that within 5-10mins I'm really glad I got up early.
