Howdo, how is everyone?

Some of you may remember me, others may not, used to be on here way too much, got a job, a renovation project and a daughter which took my time away from biking and then drifted away (sorry)

been looking at getting back into biking, should be getting a child seat from my parent's for my birthday (I borrowed one a month ago to see how we got on) and am considering replacing / upgrading bikes ready for us (wife, me and little un) to use them more.

Plan at the moment is for the wife to have a couple of changes made to my mountain bike and me build something new but what on earth has happened?

when I was still paying attention 26 inch wheels were mountain bike size, 24 inch for playing about and 29 inch if you wanted to be different and could find the parts that fitted together, now there seems to be about 8 different sizes!

having gotten confused and scared I looked at replacing the road bike instead (it's past pensionable age nearly having been made around 1964) as the brakes are simply not up to the Lancashire hills in the same way they coped with Coventry but I can't seem to find a steel frame for under £1000…

I'll probably ask specifics about building bikes when I get around to it - have to use what we've got first!

back to the original question, how are you all and what's changed in the world of cycling?

Wondered where the black sheep of the family had got to.

Welcome back. Same same but different. New trolls, LOTS of nobbers () and that's about it. And most of us don't ride our bikes very seriously at all.

Still a lot of fun, though, so get stuck in.

Lancashire - I'm really the black sheep now (I'm from Yorkshire!) I left as I 'got grumpy from reading things on the internet' according to the wife so I'll be staying out of the rant topics as much as possible

Think last time I was on here Arch had just got married

Just realised this should be in Cafe (been away too long) - any chance it can be moved?

Arch has got married ??? That's where she's gone ... (yes, I did know Arch is a :girl:)

A few more fancy things like you can Quote part of a post (like I just did :okay:), bigger, better, faster server, updates to forum software ... not much change there, then. Shaun still doing a brilliant job ... CC the biggest (and bestest ^_^) cycling forum ...

Sounds like you've been having a busy time - :welcome: back ! Now :bicycle: :bicycle: :bicycle: !

Arch is rattling around twitter, as is Night Train. Most of the rest of us are still here. Mundane News is where many of the old slobs hang around.

Welcome back! Don't be in too much of a hurry to junk your 1964 bike on account of the brakes. Get yourself some decent brake blocks - Amazon, eg - and see how you go. There's probably nothing wrong with the bike - or the brakes for that matter. 50-odd years is nothing for a bike. A good bike lasts forever!

Fifty year old is not bad for a bike rider either, may I point out.

Hi, that must have been around the time I joined CC (wish I'd found it sooner), as their wedding pictures were featured at the top of the homepage.
